At 15 Elm Street, there is a place where you can climb 100-year-old stairs. They will lead you to the top floor of the Hampton Museum and Visitors' Center, which was once upon a time The Bank of Hampton, built in 1892. The bank failed in bankruptcy in 1926 and now serves as the museum. In fact, the original paintings on the safe doors are just part of the treasures inside this splendid architectural design.
Spend some time exploring the permanent exhibits related to local history, Native
American lore, houses of worship, the Watermelon Festival, post office
memorabilia, local politics and military history as well as rotating
exhibits throughout the year.
